While we may not know about the real name until the launch, we do have renders and 360-degree video of the device exclusively from OnLeaks. Steve H.McFly aka OnLeaks has a notoriously great success rate when it comes to leaks. So, when you scroll down from here, you might as well be looking at the latest Apple offering.

Exclusive Renders of 4.7-inch iPhone 9 aka iPhone SE 2

It is expected that the new device will not resemble the 2019 iPhone 11 Series even a bit. Instead, it will be exactly like the 4.7 inch iPhone 8. The dimensions shared by OnLeaks are roughly around 138.5 x 67.4 x 7.8mm (8.6mm, including rear camera bump) and are also closer to the Apple’s 2017 flagship. Notably, the 2020 model is slightly thicker than 2017 one, as it boasts 7.8mm width instead of the 7.3mm.

Frosted Glass Back

OnLeaks presumes that the back glass will be the differentiating factor between iPhone 8 and the new device. So, he has rendered a frosted glass back quite like iPhone 11 Pro instead of a glossy glass of current iPhone 8. Looking into the renders, we can assume that the new iPhone 9 or the iPhone SE 2 would support wireless charging as well.

Better Camera and Better Battery

Along with a similar 4.7-inch notch-less LCD display, it will also support Touch ID, advanced single-lens camera and a next-gen A13 Bionic processor. Expect an exceptional camera, thanks to Apple’s smart machine learning. As for the battery, the newer models have been performing remarkably, expect the same from this one as well.

iPhone 9 vs. iPhone SE 2 – What will It be Named?

Both the proposed names iPhone 9 or the iPhone SE 2, seem perfectly matching to the leaked form factor. The ‘9’ suffix is justified as this one looks and feels like the successor of the iPhone 8 rather than the 11. The ‘SE 2′ also makes sense, if the tech giant decides not to go back on its numbered series. It definitely can’t be named ’12’, as this is a budgeted device and may have lesser features than 11 (just one camera). Wrapping up… Now that you had a peek at these specs, do you think the 4.7-inch iPhone 2020 could be the next in line for the best selling smartphone throne? Could it be a worthy, notch-less replacement/competitor for the iPhone XR?
